The Ministry of affairs will inform the Election commission of India that no decision to give compensation of 5 lakh rupees was taken after the Narendra Modi Government was asked questions by the EC about the Compensation amount before the bypoll elections.
Modi Government has said that it was not officially announced that they will give the amount and it does not breach model code of conduct. Earlier Arvind kejriwal also demanded from the SIT that the matter of 1984 riots should be investigated by them.
Senior officers from MHA also said that it is a difficult task to distribute the money as now there may be more than one claimant of the person killed in the riot as the money is to be given to the first kin of the person died.
Meanwhile an Umbrella group in US has written a letter to Obama to provide justice for the victims of the riots. They also claimed that entire Sikh community was targeted after the Assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh Bodyguard.
For past three months Modi government has received several letters from Sikh groups about the compensation. It has been estimated that if the fresh compensation will be given according to 5 lakh per kin than it would cost nearly 166 crore.
