19 year old man arrested for posting child porn on Facebook

On Thursday CB-CID police have arrested a 19 year man for uploading child porn on social media websites. He created social media pages and after that uploaded many child porn photos on them. He has been identified as M Manikanda Prabhu who is a diploma holder in mechanical engineering. He downloaded the content from the internet and used them on the social media pages with vulgar comments. He was doing this for more than a month may be because he wanted to seek attention of the people.

Cyber-crime wing of CB-CID nabbed him from his house in Angalakuruchi near Pollachi, after receiving a complaint from an NGO volunteer. According to the police officials Prabhu had joined a private company on the post of Supervisor last week.

Police have seized his mobile phone and SIM cards and he was presented in the court which ordered to put him on remand in jail custody on Thursday.

During the initial interrogation he has confessed that he had uploaded the photographs and shared them with his friends. He also told to the police that after checking several child porn sites he decided to open a page of his own. One of the volunteer of an NGO accidentally checked upon his Facebook page on 1^st July and informed the police about the matter.

Then the police team traced Prabhu and also looking out for those people who have commented on the photographs which he has posted on his page. He has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, 2012 and 67-A and 67-B of Information Technology Act, 2000. Currently the police is interrogating him to get more information and will file a charge-sheet accordingly.
