Soon Female Viagra will be available in the market



On Tuesday the FDA regulator of US will decide whether to approve the new drug which is also called is female Viagra or not. If the FDA approves this drug then it would be the first pill in the market to raise sex drive of women.

In June also the advisory panel the FDA to approve the drug called Fibanserin. It should be noted that earlier the panel opposed the approval of the drug for the past two years.

Now this time the experts voted 18-6 in favour of this drug on the market with some additional risk control measures to make sure that it is available through doctor’s prescription only to the patients who are in need of it and also ensuring women to beware of the risks of the pill.

The FDA generally does not follow the advice of the panel but sometimes it does consider their recommendations. A spokesperson of Sprout Pharmaceuticals in North Carolina told that it is expected that FDA will give its decision on Tuesday but the time is still not fixed. He further declined to comment if approved Flibanserin would be sold by the name of “Addyi” and marketed towards pre-menopausal women.

This pill will also have some side effects like nausea, dizziness and sleepiness, fainting, low BP and potential for hormonal contraceptives. Experts are also concerned about the increased risk of breast cancer seen in one of two studies on lab animals.

It is a non- hormonal agent that acts on neurotransmitters in the brain, and aims to treat a condition known as hypoactive sexual desire disorder or loss of interest in sex special y for those women who have not yet entered menopause.
