Landslide in Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara seven killed



On Tuesday afternoon at-least seven people have been killed in a landslide happened in Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara in Kullu district. 

It is expected that more people have died in the incident as it was massive landslide from Gadagi village which located at a higher attitude. The debris from the village came down on the Gurudwara and crushed it building. 

The Gurudwara is situated between two rivers that is Parvati and Beas Rivers. It is being feared that several people have died in the incident that are still to be found. There were about fifteen people who were seriously injured and many more are still trapped in the debris.

At this time of the year devotees usually visits the famous Gurdwara and its surrounding areas and now at the time of landslide heavy rush was there as told by the village sarpanch, Tahkur Chand.

According to the sources the landslide debris hit the langar hall of the Gurudwara and Sarai which is made to accommodate the pilgrims.

Sub divisional magistrate of Kullu, Rohit Kumar told to the media that they have recovered seven dead bodies from the damaged structure so far and the toll may rise. The injured people have been sent for the treatment to the Kullu civil hospital.

The deceased have still not been identified and the police team is working on this matter. The traffic towards Manikaran Sahib has also been restricted so that the relief and rescue operation are not hampered.

During summer pilgrims from Punjab and other States visits the famous shrine every year and it has the specialty of cold and hot water facility where the pilgrims takes bath.
