Diet or exercise for weight loss?
It is quite difficult to decide whether dieting reduces the weight or just doing exercise will reduce the extra fat accumulated for a long time. Recently a few more studies are done to check whether diet alone can reduce the extra body fat or only the exercise.
It was found that diet plays a major role in reducing the fat because it around 10 % energy is used for digesting the food we eat and if the exercise is done 10% to 30% energy is used so to reduce the extra fat checking the type food and dieting plays a significant role.
It does not mean that exercise does not play any role in reducing fat, in fact, it is very important to control high BP, diabetes and maintain healthy muscle growth and keep other diseases at bay.
In order to reduce the weight combination of light exercise and dieting is required. In dieting include carbs protein, fibre.
For dieting eat low-calorie foods so that more fat is not deposited in the body as only a portion of calories can be burned by the exercise so it is always better to eat the right food instead of focusing on burning more calories through exercise as by doing so our body appetite increases and we end up eating more junk food and other food having more calories.
To lose weight you can include the following food items in your diet
Legumes, Walnuts, Egg whites, Fish, Cottage Cheese, Watermelon, Broccoli, Oats, Popcorn, Cauliflower, Sweet Potatoes.
While both diet and exercise are important for weight loss, studies generally show that diet plays a more significant role in creating a caloric deficit. Here’s a breakdown:
Diet
Impact on Caloric Intake: It’s often easier to reduce calorie intake through diet than to burn a significant amount of calories through exercise.
Nutritional Quality: Eating nutrient-dense foods helps regulate hunger and provides essential nutrients.
Exercise
Metabolic Boost: Exercise increases metabolism and helps maintain muscle mass during weight loss.
Health Benefits: Regular physical activity improves overall health, mood, and fitness levels.
Conclusion
For effective weight loss, focusing on a healthy diet is typically more impactful, but incorporating regular exercise enhances results and overall well-being. A combination of both is ideal for long-term success. What aspects of weight loss are you most interested in?
