Delhi Lt. Governor will make rooftop solar panels compulsory in residential areas

The Delhi Lieutenant Governor, Anil Baijal has made it clear that soon Delhi residential areas will have to install solar panels to generate electricity for home use and ease up the load on the power companies.
He said "Soon, we will make it mandatory for cooperative housing societies to have solar panels on rooftops."
He further said "One of the biggest issues that Delhi is facing apart from pollution is traffic congestion. There are more than 77 corridors which suffer from traffic jams on a daily basis due to poor engineering and designing. We have made a two-fold plan: A constructive plan and a regulative plan. Through these plans, we will be able to tackle traffic congestion in 16 months. To reduce dust, we will start mechanized sweeping of roads soon."
Not just this PUC check will also be linked to the car insurance.
So far the Delhi Government’s power department has told that earlier they opened the registration process of rooftop solar power plants installation in Delhi so that at least they can tap 1 GigaWatt electricity by year 2020.
The registration process for Delhites is now open for residential, social and institutional categories under the solar policy of Government.
Delhi residents can also earn Rs2 per unit by installing the solar plants from the Government as 30% of the expenditure is supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Even the vendors have been empanelled by the Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd (IPGCL) for solar photovoltaic installations.
