Oldest tree in the World found in China



Oldest tree in the world has been found in china. It is one of the endangered species which is 1300 year and was during a census of ancient trees in the central china.

It is called the taxus chinensis found in shunhuangshan national forest park in the city of yongzhou.

The tree height is 35 metres wih diameter of 2.2 metres. Two subtrees were also noticed on its both sides and all of them are ancient trees well preserved by the villagers.

It was told by the agencies that taxus chinesus is an endangered plant which has been into existence for almost 2.5 milion years and it produces few seeds which are able to survive in moist and warm climate.

These trees are used for treatment of cancer and large number of them has already been cut to extract taxol from them. Now the government of china has become extra vigilant and working upon to save them as much as they can. These species are now given extra protection by giving first grade national protection to them.
