In a horrific incident happened in Rajasthan of India an 85 year old woman has complained that she was stripped naked because the villagers thought that she was a witch in Bhilwara district.
She has registered a complaint with police on Monday in which she has explained that how she was tortured and blamed of being witch.
This shameful incident took place in Sunday and the police is doing investigation of the case while she has been identified as Chau Bai who has two daughters.
She alleged that there were about 14 to 16 people from her own village who tortured her with searing tongs and beat her with iron chains.
Later she was admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Bhilwara. She thinks that the villagers wanted to grab her property and because of this reason they attacked her and force her out of the village.
She said that the villagers brought a witch doctor with them who poured alcohol on her body and then she was beaten up and stripped naked and later they threw her into a drain.
The Government has already passed an act related to witch hunting prevention and according to the Rajasthan Prevention of Witch Hunting Act 2015 which is currently in force in Rajasthan says that anybody who force a woman after calling or branding her as witch and make her drink, eat any inedible substance or any obnoxious substance or parade her naked or even with scanty clothes or painted face or body committing any similar acts derogatory to human dignity or displacing her from her property or house is punishable in the eyes of law and liable to rigorous imprisonment for a term not less than Rs50000 or both.
But from this incident it is clear that people are still not afraid of the law and still doing such shameful acts in this age. The Government should make the law more strict by including life term of imprisonment with cash fine which should be given to the victim and also provide protection to them.
