The Gurgaon police have caught a luxury car dealer for selling cars
to a dead man. A case has been registered by the police against him for
delivering an Audi Q3 to a dead customer.
In this case the customer had booked a car with the dealer but reportedly he committed suicide a day after his car loan was sanctioned and he died before the car could be delivered to him. It appears that the showroom accepted the loan from the bank and sold off the car to someone else.
This incident took place last year when Sandeep Yadav, 35 who was a resident of Pitampura in Delhi applied for a car loan of Rs36 lakh from the State Bank of India in Delhi. He wanted to buy the car worth Rs 43 lakh from Zenica Autos in Gurgaon. The buyer was businessman and owned a banquet hall in Uttar Pradesh.
SBI sanctioned the car loan on 30th April 2014. But Yadav committed suicide on the next day on 1st May 2014. The loan was already processed and the bank alleged that the Audi Showroom received the money and then went to deliver the car to someone else. In the records of Audi showroom Audi Q3 car was delivered to Yadav.
When the bank did not get the instalment for the car loan, they investigated the matter and found that the customer had committed suicide and is dead, even though in the records of the Audi showroom the car had been delivered to him eight days after his death.
Then the bank filed a police complaint in Delhi against the Audi Showroom and the complaint was later marked to the Gurgaon jurisdiction a month ago. Gurgaon police’s investigations revealed that the showroom to be involved in forgery as it had delivered the car to some other customer but the car was registered in the name of the deceased. Finally the Sushant Lok police station registered the FIR on Thursday in the matter.
