Central government opposes to the demand of convertes Dalits

The Centre has decided to oppose the demands of dalit status for converts to Christianity and Islam by saying that the caste system and untouchability exists only in Hinduism and due to that a special category was created called scheduled castes.

The constitution of India provides reservation to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes to compensate the social injustice suffered by them and if the benefits will be extended to them after the conversion then it would impinge on the rights of SC and ST class.
