Google play store has removed the popular camscanner app. This step was
taken by Google while doing a vigilant approach towards removing those apps
which are of malware nature and are harmful to the downloaders.
Camscanner is a popular scanning App which converts the photos of PDF and
Word format but it was found that it contains malware which could seed
advertisements and ask the users to signup for the paid services.
Kaspersky researchers were looking into the matter and checked Camscanner
App's recent versions which contain a malicious module. The trojan virus was
also identified which run a malicious module from the encrypted file.
Camscanner APP had 100 million downloads which is a good number and shows
that it was quite famous and liked by the users. But recently some users posted
negative reviews about the Camscanner APP and urged not to download this APP as
it runs paid ads and cheat the user by opting for paid services. Earlier this
App was advert free but after it became popular ads they starting infusing ads
in it.
So it is advised to uninstall this App ASAP if you do not want your other
files on the mobile to get corrupted which is a really serious matter. So far
Camscanner App has been barred by the Google play store and for safer side do
not install it from anywhere else if you do not want to compromise the security
of your data saved on your Android mobile.
The Camscanner has also acknowledged that there is a malicious module
present in the camscanner version 5.11.7. It is a third-party advertisements
SDK module which was causing unauthorized clicks and the Camscanner owners will
take immediate legal action against Adhub.
According to the Camscanner Adhub is the Company which has infused the
Adverts and installed suspicious code that violates the security policy of the
Company.
Soon the new version of camscanner will be available on Google play store
after removing all the Ad SDKs.
Camscanner also tweeted about the new version and requested the users to
download it.
