Married women are more prone for being sexually harassed at workplaces

On 8th March International women's day was celebrated and a study was done on sexual harassment of women at workplaces. Shockingly it was found that women who are married are more prone to sexual harassment because in most of the cases they are unable to complain. Another reason why these women’s who works in offices do not complain to their husband or police is that then maybe their family members will not allow them to work in future or maybe the thought that what people in society will think or say.

This study was done by the Government which was conducted by the Noida based Institute, VV Giri National Labor Institute. This institution falls under the ministry of labor and employment and Shashi Bala is the coordinator at the center for gender and labor studies.

She told that in this study 300 women who are working in offices and employees of companies in Noida, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Delhi, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon have faced harassment at their workplaces which is a serious matter of concern because we do not know what exactly are the numbers of women who really get discriminated a workplaces because this study has only considered 300 women’s for conducting the survey and that too only these 300 women have told the truth there would be so many women’s who still have not opened  up themselves.

One more finding of this study is that 30.6% of the total complainants were aged between 35 to 40 years and nearly 90 % of them are married who got harassed sexually in the offices in urban areas.

The above case study again shows that still our society is male-dominated and people are still taking advantage of women who are important and equal part of the society. We all should start changing our attitude towards women because even if we do not think bad about women and have not done anything wrong does not mean that we are good at it but if we see someone doing something wrong then also we should point out that person and stop the misbehaving against women.
