Have you ever thought why only few smokers’ gets cancer and others live longer? As claimed by earlier researches nearly half of the smokers die due to smoking tobacco.
All smokers know that it is not a good habit to smoke as it directly impact their health and further leads to cancer.
According to a new study, scientists have now discovered that it may be because of genes.
Smokers who do not die of cancer and other diseases caused by smoking and live for long time may have some specific genes which promotes a lengthy lifespan.
These genes can be called longevity genes and these are also linked with an 11% lower incidence of cancer. These genes help the body cells to repair themselves, protecting the person from ageing and environmental damage.
In one year about 6 million people die because of smoking tobacco and it has turned out to be a tobacco epidemic. Smoking is also responsible for accelerating ageing process and early death cause. Meanwhile some of the smokers survive to an old age which is now noted by the researchers in US.
In this study researches identified people those who had a variant of a gene that allowed them to better withstand environmental damage from similar chemicals which are present in Cigarettes.
It was also found that the gene is linked to survival rate. For smokers e- cigarettes is also an good option if they want to quit as it is less harmful compared to the normal tobacco smoking
