Why do man prefers thinner women as compared to bigger women

A study was conducted about finding attractive and suitable mates around the world and it was found in the research that most of the men like thinner women to be their mate instead of bigger women. For two reasons i.e thinner women are more attractive and expected to live longer and secondly they are better mates in terms of fertility.

Why do men like thinner women and finds them more attractive as compared to bigger women because they would be more likely to survive times of hunger?

A research was done on the same topic in which the researchers showed images of women to 60,000 volunteers across the world which of 120 silhouettes they found more attractive.

The images which won more votes were then used to evolve future generations and the researchers were surprised to find that the ideal image had a body mass index of 19.

The volunteers found the bigger women as being older and which suggests that fertility might one reason men favor for thinner mates.

The professor of the University of Abredeen, John Speakman said “What we wanted to investigate was the idea that when we look at someone and think they are physically attractive. Are we actually making that assessment based on a hard-wired evolutionary understanding of their potential for future survival and reproductive ability?”
