Ray-Ban sues Shopclues for selling fake eye wears

The Owner of Ray-Ban, Luxottica group has taken legal action against E-Commerce website Shopclues.com for selling fake eye wears under the brand name of Rayban.

Shopclues.com was wooing the customers by giving heavy discounts and claiming to be selling original Ray-Ban eye wears. 

This matter has also raised several questions on Shopclues whether they are selling all fake products? Is it a genuine e-commerce website?

On 19^th August the court observed that specific directions were issued to shopclues last year in the form if injunction orders, but it continued to display, advertise and sell counterfeit goods an d products under the trademark of Ray-Ban.

During the hearing the court checked the listings of sun glasses under brand name of Ray-Ban and then said that it is clearly against the letter and spirit of the interim junction.

CEO and co-founder of Shopclues, Sanjay Sethi told that they cooperate with brands on daily basis to help keep the site clean of counterfeits. Through their intellectual property programme shopclues.com in they make it very easy for brands an right owners to reach them to protect their IP.
