E scooters for Delhi Police

Delhi Traffic will get 25 Electronic scooters in December 2014. It will help them to cover wide area mostly the crowded places where it is difficult the police officers to do the patrolling instantly and will enhance the their motivation as Delhi Traffic police is the first department in India who would be getting these electronic self - balancing scooters.

“They will give speed, visibility and traction to the most important functionary of the police hierarchy – the humble constable – and enable him to patrol a larger area more effectively than he or she could on foot,” said Muktesh Chander, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

He added that “Not just that, these devices will help increase our reach beyond the street and allow us to monitor both traffic and law and order in areas such as parking lots and commercial establishments such as malls,”

These scooters will cost 45000 Rupees and will have batteries in them which needs to be charged for 8 hours and after that can be used for 24 hours. These Segway scooters will have maximum speed of 25 km per hour but the speed will be restricted to 15 km per hour for the police.

Muktesh told that initially these scooters will be used for crowded places like mall, airport and markets like chandini chowk, karol bagh, etc to keenly monitor the area.

Till now there are some private security companies are using these scooters in banglore for security in mall and crowded markets.

Delhi police have ordered a batch of 25 scooters initially and will monitor its performance and use in daily basis activities.

It is a good decision taken by the Delhi Government to provide the e scooters to the police force as they are people who takes the charge of security of people in all weather conditions.
